Seventy-two cars filled the pits of this legendary track for the FVP Preliminary Night of the 5-hour Energy Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey’s General Stores where the top four finishers of the 25-lap, A-Main would advance to the Saturday A-Main to make up positions 17-20.
Greg would qualify twentieth in a thirty-six car field for Group 1. He would later finish sixth in his 8-lap, heat race and be forced to start in eleventh in the 12-lap, B-Main. Needing a top four finish to advance to the A-Main, Greg was only able to gain four spots to finish in seventh putting an end to his night.
“Well, we drew a better qualifying spot tonight and overall we ran better than last night,” said Greg. “We could have done without that red in our B-Main, but that’s racing. This is one tough deal out here. We load up and return tomorrow night for the final.”
