Greg Wilson is looking to make the most of a three-week break from Ollie’s Bargain Outlet All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 competition.
Wilson and his Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics, DNC Hydraulics and Gear Off Road backed team will build a new Maxim sprint car this week. The goal is to break it in by tackling some regional shows in Ohio before the All Star schedule resumes on Aug. 21.
“It’s nice that we can be home and work on some of the stuff,” he said. “It will be a basic race car that will hopefully put us back on the right track.”
Wilson raced with the All Stars during four straight nights of competition in the Midwest last weekend.
He kicked off the action on Thursday by maneuvering from 23rd to 19th in the Rayce Rudeen Foundation Race main event at Plymouth Dirt Track in Plymouth, Wis.
Wilson placed 22nd the following night at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. He then ended his night in the B Main on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, and on Sunday at Huset’s Speedway during the C & B Operations Grand Reopening presented by Folkens Brothers Trucking.
“It was a busy weekend with a lot of driving and a lot of different tracks,” he said. “I’m a little frustrated with the weekend. I felt like we had a decent car a couple of nights, but didn’t get good results.
“We timed in well at Knoxville, but made some mistakes and didn’t have the night we should have had. That’s racing. We knew when we left for Plymouth that we had some work to do. It was good to get through the weekend and get back to our shop in one piece so we can start working on the new car.”
