The Hercules Tire, DNC Hydraulics, Ohio Logistics, All Star Plumbing, Gear Alloy Wheels, Bedford Valley Petroleum, Weikel Sportswear backed w20 team and The World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series completed their 2017 Fall tour of the west coast with two nights of racing on Friday, September 15 and Saturday, September 16 in the Wine Country Classic at Calistoga Speedway in Calistoga, California.
Twenty-seven cars dotted the pits of opening night of the Classic. Greg qualified twenty-third, ran eighth in his 8-lap heat race and was forced to run the 12-lap, LCS where he missed a transfer spot by one with his seventh place finish putting an early end to his night.
“Not much to say about our performance tonight,” shared Greg. “It was a pretty frustrating evening here at Calistoga. But we will be right back tomorrow for night number 2.”
Night number 2 of the Classic saw the car count jump by one to twenty-eight. Greg would qualify eighth, finish fifth in his 8-lap, heat race earning a starting spot in the feature. The w20 would line up outside the seventh row in the fourteenth starting position in the 30-lap, A-Main. Greg was able to work his way up through the field gaining five spots to cap his evening with a ninth place finish.
“This was a great night for us compared to the last few,” commented Greg. “This isn’t a bad way to finish our West coast swing. Now we have the long drive back home (Findlay, Ohio) and head to Eldora for some Friday night racing. I can’t say thank you enough to my partners for their continued support.”
